Some residual moisture early but a dry week building.
For 7/6/09: We are seeing a line of thunder cells on the regional radar early that will likely move through the area before noon. These look like they will hold along the divide but be prepared for very isolated thundershowers early as this final gasp from the west clears the area. By this afternoon all that should be left will be a final day of convective showers that will lack fuel and move through quickly.
Overnight lows dropped below the 40 degree mark for the first time in a week with Crested Butte reporting 38 degrees this morning while Gunnison stayed a couple degrees warmer at 43 degrees. Daytime highs will be moderated by the cloud cover early but should still hit the 70’s at all elevations. Along with drier air we will see warmer temperatures pushing into the area with highs in the highs 70’s and 80’s expected through the end of the week.
We are continuing to dry out in the west with high pressure forming in the southwest that will dominate our weather through the middle of the week. The threat of convective showers will all but disappear through Tuesday and Wednesday making it a great time to get outside.
