Drier air and sunny skies.
For 7/5/09: We are continuing to see drier air moving in from the west with another sunny morning expected but we will still have enough lingering moisture on tap to fuel convective thundershowers. These will likely hold off until later in the day and form as faster moving hit or miss systems carrying a lot of wind and blowing through quickly.
The cloud cover from the rain that held into the night kept us a little warmer than expected with overnight lows dropping to 41 degrees for Crested Butte while Gunnison bottomed out at 45 degrees. We will rebound quickly under sunny skies this morning with highs in the mid to high 70’s expected for the north end of the valley while Gunnison hits the high 70’s and flirts with the 80’s. Clearer skies again overnight should allow lows in the high 30’s but will hover right around the 40 degree mark.
Get an early start on your projects and adventures today and be prepared for fast moving systems forming with the heat of the day. These will be in and out of the area quickly moving too fast for really wetting rains but enough that you will want to be prepared.
