More sun early but the threat continues.

For 7/1/09: Moisture is continuing to lift into the area from the south and fuel these afternoon thundershowers. Warmer conditions will push these to fire earlier in the day but they will remain widely scattered. Plan your activities for an early start or just pack some layers and roll the dice.

Overnight lows have stayed pretty consistent all week with Crested Butte reporting 38 degrees last night while Gunnison was a couple degrees warmer at 42 degrees. We will rebound to warm highs again today with Crested Butte and the higher elevations climbing to the high 70’s while Gunnison flirts with the 80’s. Increasing moisture will mean cooler overnight lows through the end of the week dropping back towards 35 degrees.

This trend of convective afternoon thundershowers will continue through the week and into the weekend with a slow trickle of moisture continuing to lift into the area from the south. These carry only enough moisture for scattered thundershowers and move quickly through the area but you will want to be prepared if your venturing out in the afternoons.
