High pressure seeing challenges from the south.
For 6/30/09: A bit of a shuffle in the western weather pattern has the high pressure that we have been seeing in the west being replaced by another round of moisture lifting in on the subtropical plume. As it stands, this will be just enough to fuel more scattered afternoon thundershowers with no real concentrated moisture but it will keep our afternoons active through the end of the week and potentially into the weekend.
Temperatures dropped again overnight under the clear skies with Crested Butte reporting 37 degrees this morning while Gunnison held at 41 degrees. Daytime highs will climb again to the 70’s for the north end of the valley while Gunnison and the lower valleys push the low 80’s.
The southern flow that will bring back the plume of moisture will keep us in mild temperatures while providing enough fuel to keep thundershowers through the afternoons a threat into next weekend. Continue to get an early start on all big adventures and outdoor projects and carry layers to account for these afternoon thundershowers. These will remain hardly worth changing any plans over but you will want to be prepared.
