Sunny skies and much drier conditions.
For 6/27/09: The drier air that has filtered in from the west has effectively scoured most of the moisture from the end of the week clear of the area. We are left with some remnants that will be enough to form some isolated convective thundershowers through this afternoon but these will be fast moving and will move in and out of the area quickly.
Overnight lows dropped a little closer to normal with Crested Butte reporting 40 degrees this morning while also Gunnison stayed in the 40’s bottoming out at 45 degrees this morning. Sunny skies will drive highs in the 70’s but this drier air mass is also a bit cooler so it will not feel as hot as it has the last few days. Look for another clear night to allow overnight lows to drop even lower into the 30’s tonight.
With this drier pattern we will see only scattered convective activity building through the heat of the day. Systems will move in and out of the area quickly so we won’t see anything like the wetting rains of the end of the week. Get an early start on your adventures today and pack layers but definitely get outside.
