Nothing but sunny skies early.
For 6/22/09: High pressure remains entrenched in the southwest while weak waves of pacific moisture push through northern Colorado. With the slight northern bump in the pattern we have returned to the drier flow pushing the wet conditions from Saturday through to the northeast. We will enjoy sunny skies through most of the day with warm sunny conditions.
Overnight lows dropped to just above the freezing mark overnight with the clear skies with Crested Butte reporting 33 degrees while Gunnison bottomed out at 37 degrees. We will rebound quickly with highs in the 60’s expected for the north end of the valley while Gunnison hits the 70’s. Clearer skies again overnight will mean another cold low hovering on the freezing mark.
While drier air continues to move into the southwest we are close enough to the wetter northern flow that a small move can bring us more concentrated moisture. As it stands it looks like we will see limited convective activity through the better part of the week with the pattern mostly drawing from the south. Expect temperatures climbing back to the seasonal norms with a beautiful week on tap. That said continue to expect those convective afternoon thundershowers and be prepared for all conditions if you are headed out in the afternoon towards the higher terrain.
