Blue Bird Conditions.

For 6/19/09: High pressure is setting up in the southwest and it looks like we will be heading into a drier pattern but residual moisture and a parting shot from a northern system will continue to fuel thundershowers. With the increased sunshine and warmer temperatures will come stronger convective storms building with the heat of the day. These will remain hit or miss but with a fairly predictable pattern building over the higher terrain and settling into the lower valleys.

Overnight lows have remained pretty steady this week with Crested butte reporting 33 degrees this morning and Gunnison staying a couple degrees warmer at 37 degrees. Look for highs today to rebound quickly with the clear skies with another high in the mid 60’s for the north end of the valley while Gunnison flirts with the 70’s. Overnight lows will drop again if skies clear through the evening offering another low close to the freezing mark that you will want to be prepared for if you are camping.

All in all we will see drier and warmer conditions setting up through today and holding for the weekend but a few variables will remain. Get an early start on your adventures and expect those same thunder cells building this afternoon.
