Light high cloud cover but another great start.
For 6/14/09: We are continuing to see the drier air we were expecting slip into the west but scattered waves of pacific moisture are also keeping the moisture level up. This moisture fuels the afternoon thundershowers like yesterday and it looks like we can expect more of the same. A wave out of the southwest will lift into our area with the heat of the day providing another round of windy thundershowers that will last into the evening.
Overnight lows once again hovered on the freezing mark for the north end of the valley but held up at 33 degrees for Crested Butte this morning while Gunnison stayed at 36 degrees. We will rebound again to the 60’s and maybe pop to the low 70’s in Gunnison but this will depend on when that cloud cover builds. Look for another overnight low again in the mid and low 30’s for all elevations.
The forecast remains wetter than our normal June pattern into this week but it will definitely be an improvement over last week with sunny mornings giving way to isolated thundershowers. Get out early on your projects or big adventures today and expect some windy thunder cells building into the afternoon.
