A last gasp from the south.

For 6/11/09: We are seeing the last gasps of this southern moisture moving slowly clear of the area with thundershowers overnight and regional radar still showing more to come. We will see drier conditions building through the day with this low cloud cover likely burning off or blowing clear of the area through the morning.

Overnight lows were moderated once again by the cloud cover with Crested Butte reporting 36 degrees while Gunnison stayed a few degrees warmer at 40 degrees. We will rebound to the 50’s and low 60’s with some gaps of sunshine through the afternoon. Clearer skies overnight will allow for slightly colder overnight lows but they will hover right around the freezing mark.

This June is continuing to be wetter and colder than usual and while we are seeing drier air building into the area for the end of the week and the weekend, conditions in the west remain unsettled. Averages are averages and we’ll have to dry out at some point so get the inside projects buttoned up so you’ll be ready to have some free time when the sun shines. Until then take advantage of any dry windows but be sure to pack layers and be prepared for all conditions.
