The wettest day of the week.

For 6/10/09: We are seeing the greatest concentration of moisture moving into the area this morning that we have seen through this generally wet flow. Regional radar is showing a stream of moisture from the south lifting into Grand Junction and moving along the divide while another larger system splits to our south. So far we are in the drier slot in the middle but precipitable water levels are increasing and there will be rain once the right pieces fall into place.

Temperatures have remained cool but overnight lows were insulated with the cloud cover with Crested Butte reporting 37 degrees while Gunnison remained warmer at 41 degrees. We will see another cool high today without any real gaps of sunshine with the 50’s a high mark for all elevations. More cloud cover overnight should keep us above freezing but if the northern cold front finds us some snow on the higher peaks will be possible.

The lack of sunshine to fuel convective showers will limit today’s activity but rain showers with scattered thunder cells are likely. This should be the wettest day of the week but remnants will linger until we see some drier conditions this weekend. Probably a good day for inside projects but if you venture out, pack plenty of layers and be prepared.
