Not quite what was forecast but we'll take it.

For 6/7/09: The more aggressive weather that was forecast for today ended up pushing through to the north yesterday. The brunt of this weather held on the divide and higher terrain while Gunnison saw the sunny skies we were expecting. So far we are seeing more of the same early with clear skies to the south while radar continues to show a stream of southern moisture lifting out of the south over Grand Junction and running along the divide.

The overnight lows are a further example of this line with Crested Butte dropping to 32 degrees while Gunnison stayed significantly warmer in the 40’s. Gunnison has already rebounded to the high 60’s as of this morning while CB is struggling to clear the 40’s. A cold front brushing the area from the north will mean more cooler temperatures for the north with a clear night bringing a cold overnight low below the freezing mark. Cover new plants if you are worried about a freeze.

With this mix of cold air to the north and the warm air from the south we will be in for another round of the mixed bag of conditions. You will want to be prepared if your adventures take you to the higher terrain especially if there is a chance of getting nighted. Some convective showers will also be a possibility so be sure to pack for all conditions but get outside and have some fun.
