High clouds set to clear.
For 6/6/09: We are seeing the movement we were hoping for in the western weather pattern with the high gusting winds through yesterday pushing most of the pacific wave in the southwest clear of the area. We are left with some blown out cloud cover and limited moisture that is offering mostly cloudy conditions early but look for skies to clear as the dry slot just to our west filters into the area.
The cloud cover that we saw overnight kept lows very mild with Crested Butte reporting 46 degrees while Gunnison stayed at 50 degrees. Daytime highs will be limited by cloud cover early and a generally cooler pattern with temperatures expected to just breech the 60’s. Clearer skies overnight will mean cooler temperatures but more cloud cover cycling clear of the area could still keep us in a milder flow.
The jet stream is currently pushing right over our area but a small kick to the east will bring us into the dry slot holding just to the west. Expect mostly cloudy conditions early to become mostly sunny through the middle of the day with clouds building on the higher terrain through the early evening. An isolated thundershower is not out of the question but the changes we have seen in the pattern have moved the moist air clear of the area.
