Finally some clear skies early.

For 6/4/09: The high winds that we saw yesterday were an indicator that we are finally seeing some movement in the western weather pattern. Unfortunately it also looks like the stalled ridge has caused a weather traffic jam and the result will be more active conditions through the end of the week and the weekend.

Overnight lows dropped under clear skies with Crested Butte hitting the freezing mark at 32 degree this morning while Gunnison was a bit warmer at 37 degrees. We will rebound quickly with today promising the warmest temperatures of the week with highs popping to the 60’s valley wide. Tonight will offer more colder clear conditions with lows likely dropping to the mid to low 30’s again.

Warmer temperatures today will mean more convective thundershowers building through the heat of the day. These should remain scattered but you will definitely want to carry some layers and be prepared. The forecast for Friday and the weekend is looking complicated and we’re going to have to see what it’s looking like after the winds from today but take advantage of today’s sun just in case.
