Another sunny morning but...
For 5/31/09: The only changes that we have seen to the western weather pattern is a slight increase in the moisture lifting into the area and the result will be another day that will shape up a lot like yesterday. Look for light high altitude cloud cover building through the late morning to become more of these big popcorn cloud formations offering isolated thundershowers after lunch. These will be of the same hit or miss variety but you will need to be prepared.
Overnight lows dropped again below the freezing mark in Crested Butte to 30 degrees while Gunnison held a few degrees higher at 35 degrees. We will see another high today in the 60’s but our time at the top will be limited with heavy cloud cover and gusting winds bringing the temperatures back down.
This trend of sunny mornings giving way to thundershowers will continue into the beginning of the week but we are seeing drier conditions setting up by Wednesday. Until then expect thundershowers through the afternoon with high gusting winds and be sure to pack layers as you head out.
