High pressure setting up.
For 5/17/09: We are seeing some light high altitude cloud cover early but high pressure has set up over our area and we can expect dry warm conditions through today and into tomorrow. Look for today to be the sunny precursor to tomorrow’s even warmer conditions with temperatures expected to hit the highest point we have seen all spring.
Even with these warm daytime highs, overnight lows have been dropping lower than expected under the clear skies with Crested Butte hitting 30 degrees last night while Gunnison saw 31 degrees. We will rebound quickly with highs today flirting with the 70’s for the lower valleys while the higher elevations and ridges probably hold to the mid 60’s. By tomorrow we could see the 70’s valley wide with the 80’s and 90’s forecast for the lower valleys to the west.
High pressure will continue to dominate into the beginning of the week but light waves of pacific moisture to the north could drum up enough moisture to offer some convective cloud cover into the middle of the week. Expect more of the gusting winds for this afternoon but conditions should be great for some outside projects.
