A beautiful weekend shaping up.
For 5/16/09: A drier northwest flow has set up for the weekend that will keep us in mostly sunny skies but some lingering moisture from last week could be enough to fuel some convective activity. This will be limited to the highest terrain and the divide and isolated enough that you should not plan around it.
Temperatures dropped to 33 degree in Crested Butte this morning with the clear skies with Gunnison holding just a degree warmer at 34 degrees. Daytime highs will be unseasonable warm climbing to the mid 60’s for today and starting the migration to the 70’s for the lower valleys for the beginning of the week.
Sunshine will be the dominant weather feature through the end of the weekend but the combination of the leftover moisture and supper warm temperatures will offer those gusting drainage winds and scattered cloud cover for the afternoon. Pack some layers if you are headed to the higher terrain or go south for the more consistently clear conditions.
