More from the mixed bag.
For 5/14/09: Right now we are seeing no real changes to the current flow of the western weather pattern with weak pacific moisture continuing to push through northern Colorado while a zonal pattern in the jet stream keeps us right on the edge. We won’t see any notable increase in the cloud cover but we can expect more like what we saw yesterday with high gusting winds moving isolated pockets of the big popcorn cloud formations along the divide.
Temperatures overnight dipped below freezing for the Crested Butte again hitting 31 degrees while Gunnison stayed warmer at 36 degrees. Temperatures will rebound to the mid 60’s valley wide as warmer temperatures settle back in but also expect the gusting winds keeping it feeling a little cooler. Lows are a little harder to call right now but looking at the temperatures from last year, we saw freezing temperatures into June so keep this in mind while considering when to plant.
Look for more of this scattered cloud cover early to clear through the middle of the day before the gusting winds blow in more for this afternoon. We are sitting right on the edge of the high pressure to the south and the more active northern pattern and the result is a bit of each so be prepared as you head out.
