Nothing but the Colorado Blue Bird early.

For 5/9/09: High pressure is holding strong and the clear blue skies we are waking up to will hold through most of the day. Look for winds increasing again into the afternoon while a glancing blow from a weak northern wave could infuse enough moisture to activate with the warm temperatures and kick some very isolated thundershowers. This will not be worth planning around but be prepared.

Overnight lows dropped further than expected hitting 27 degrees in Crested Butte and 29 degrees in Gunnison. We will rebound quickly with today’s high expected to hit the mid 60’s valley wide and flirt with the 70’s for the lowest valleys. Expect another cold overnight low continuing to drop below the freezing mark.

The ridge that is currently holding over the west is keeping all the variables to the north and will hold through the better part of the extended forecast. We can expect slight changes into the beginning of next week but nothing to change the expected string of beautiful weather. Get out and have some fun.
