Another incredible spring day.

For 5/8/09: This pocket of high pressure is continuing to hold strong and the associated ridge in the west is keeping all the variables well to the north. We can expect to see more of the active afternoon variables in the form of cloud cover along the divide and high gusting winds but without enough moisture to really kick into speed.

Temperatures will likely be a couple degrees cooler today with a weak cold front cycling through on this same northern stream. Overnight lows are indicative of the clearer conditions with Crested Butte holding at 33 degrees while Gunnison dipped below the freezing mark to 30 degrees. Clear skies again tonight should offer about the same result with highs through the weekend continuing to hover right around the mid 60’s and potentially higher for the lower valleys.

This fast moving zonal pattern in the west will keep us in sunny skies through the middle of next week with a few systems holding well to the north offering up a little cloud cover but not enough to really cause any issues. Expect continued high gusting winds and water levels pushing towards their peak with the warm conditions.
