Nothing but clear and sunny conditions on tap.
For 5/7/09: There are no real variables to the forecast today with this high pressure holding strong it will mean clear and sunny skies with warm temperatures. Look for those gradient winds building through the heat of the day pouring off the higher peaks and into the lower valleys through the afternoon.
Overnight lows continue to drop below 0 at the north end of the valley with Crested Butte reporting 30 degrees this morning while Gunnison stayed a little warmer at 33 degrees. We can expect another day of above normal temperatures with highs expected to hit the 60’s for most elevations and flirt with the 70’s for the lower valleys. Another clear night will give way to overnight lows hovering right on the freezing mark.
The ridge keeping us in these sunny skies will hold through the better part of the extended forecast. Weak waves of pacific moisture will cycle through to the north and the southern most edge of one could introduce a little moisture for isolated showers late Friday but it’s clear sailing into the weekend. Pack a layer for the increased winds in the afternoon but enjoy the beautiful conditions.
