Rain and snow give way to snow early.
For 5/3/09: The brunt of this latest round of moisture is past us and we have entered a quick gap between systems that is offering these sunny skies early. Regional radar is still showing moisture cycling in our direction from the west so plan any activities today based on their escape-ability and make sure you are prepared for all conditions.
Temperatures stayed pretty mild through this system with the snow line dropping to about 9000 or 9500ft overnight. This seems about right with Crested Butte reporting a low of 32 degrees this morning while Gunnison hovered around 35 degrees. Sunny skies early will bring us back up into the 40’s with the low 50’s possible if the sun continues to shine.
Another wave of pacific moisture will be working into the area over the course of the day and it looks like we will see at least scattered moisture through the beginning of the week. Dynamics are weak with this system and it lacks organization so expect a mix of rain and sun. For today you will definitely need to remain prepared for all conditions. The concentrated moisture is past us but there are still plenty of remnants set to offer shots of rain and heavy cloud cover.
