A final day of clear skies.

For 4/30/09: High pressure is continuing to hold but we are headed for some changes as the next round of pacific moisture sets up off the CA coast. We can expect another day of beautiful sunny skies but look or more of these gusting winds building into the heat of the day with mild conditions dominating.

Overnight lows dropped again under the clear skies to the low 20’s valley wide with Crested Butte reporting 22 degrees while Gunnison made it to 21 degrees. We will rebound quickly with the clear and sunny conditions continuing with highs in the 60’s likely but expect the gusting winds to keep it feeling a little cooler. Tonight’s low will stay in line with the last few nights bottoming out again in the 20’s.

Today is looking like it will be the last day of the pure high pressure conditions with tomorrow acting as our day of transition as the dominant flow switches to the southwest and this next pacific system moves in overnight. We will see a mix of rain and snow through the weekend with models still differing on the timing but plan on the potential for wet conditions by Saturday morning lasting into the beginning of next week. Take advantage of today’s clear skies and get outside.
