High pressure returns to the west.
For 4/29/09: The high gusting winds we saw through the day yesterday have cleared the cloud cover to the east and a zonal pattern in the west will offer sunny skies for today and most of the week. We can still expect some very isolated cloud cover and the drainage winds building into the heat of the day but today will be mostly sunny and significantly nicer than yesterday.
Overnight lows have dropped to the mid 20’s again valley wide with the clear skies with Crested Butte reporting 26 degrees while Gunnison dipped a little lower to 24 degrees. Daytime highs will continue to climb under this mild zonal pattern with highs in the 50’s expected for most elevations while areas further to the south could climb into the 60’s. Look for this milder pattern to hold through the week and into the weekend.
As this northern flow has turned zonal it has introduced some milder temperatures and sunny skies. We will see the classic drainage winds but the warmer temperatures will have those feeling a lot warmer than through Monday. High pressure has set up in the west and we can expect these sunny conditions to hold. The next round of variable weather will hold off until the weekend so maybe trade a sunnier day this week for a more questionable one this weekend.
