High pressure has set up.
For 4/20/09: This high pressure ridge has set up and will be holding strong through the foreseeable forecast as the warmest temperatures we have seen this spring are expected through the middle of the week. We will see some challenges to the straight clear blue skies in the form of high cloud cover but nothing thick or organized enough to affect these beautiful conditions.
Overnight lows hovered right on the 20 degree mark again with Crested Butte reporting 21 degrees while Gunnison remained a couple degrees warmer at 23 degrees. Daytime highs today will climb another couple degrees warmer topping out in the 50’s with the continued progression of this pattern threatening the 60’s through the middle of the week. Overnight lows will climb a couple degrees but will likely remain in the 20’s with the clear skies.
Aside from a few of these scattered waves of high cloud cover there is nothing in the forecast until the weekend that will even present measurable cloud cover. We will see temperatures above seasonal norms through the week with nothing but clear and sunny conditions on tap. So far no flood warnings or watches have been issued but look for local rivers and creeks to climb with this accelerated melt.
