A fresh round building early.
For 4/14/09: High cloud cover building early is announcing the early arrival of this next round of pacific moisture. Regional radar is showing a fairly solid concentration filling in from our west that will mean heavier clouds and a swing at some isolated thundershowers through the afternoon. This is really just a weak precursor with the organized moisture setting up overnight.
Temperatures have remained mild with the flow out of the southwest keeping us in the warmer air with overnight lows holding in the 20’s valley wide. We won’t see the switch to the colder temperatures until tomorrow with any snow we see today staying very high. Daytime highs today will look a lot like yesterday just breaching the 40’s before the sun goes away. Tonight’s low will be in the 20’s again but look for colder highs through tomorrow and Thursday hovering right around the 30 degree mark.
This next round of moisture is going to present some mixed condition with warmer temperatures early in the process offering mixed precipitation to the lower valleys but a cold front filling in behind it will bring snow levels down below 7500ft. Expect a couple days of sloppy travel through the end of the week and take advantage of these last gasps of sunshine today.
