Sunny but...

For 4/13/09: We have entered the gap between these pacific waves early with clear skies expected to hold through the better part of the day. This break will be short-lived so definitely get out and take advantage. By tonight we will start to see high cloud cover building on the front end of a fresh round of pacific moisture that will take us through the end of the week.

Temperatures stayed pretty warm overnight even with the clear skies with Crested Butte reporting 9 degrees while Gunnison stayed a couple degrees warmer at 21 degrees. Daytime highs will climb to the 40’s valley wide. Tonight’s lows will remain fairly mild again but look for heavier cloud cover and gusting winds building through the day.

We are seeing an active week developing beyond Tuesday with a fresh round of pacific moisture setting up for Wednesday and Thursday. It looks like a slow moving system will offer the potential for some significant snow accumulation but models are still differing on the timing and trajectory of this system. Bottom line is that you will want to get outside today and enjoy the beautiful conditions because we will see more wintry weather through the end of the week.
