A snowy Easter.
For 4/12/09: Happy Easter. We seem to have escaped the brunt of this latest round with just a candy coating this morning to hide the dust but wrap around moisture is continuing to cycle around from the northwest. We will see scattered squally snow showers through the morning with a coupe inches more possible favoring areas closer to the divide. High winds will mark the beginning of the transition as these systems cycle clear of the area setting the stage for more pacific moisture building into the area for the beginning of the week.
Temperatures have stayed mild under this southern flow with overnight lows hitting 25 in Crested Butte and 27 in Gunnison. With the cold core of this northern flow set to cycle through the area, the daytime highs will likely hold to the 30’s valley wide. Clearing skies as we gap these systems will allow for some significantly colder overnight lows so be prepared. We re-enter the milder conditions tomorrow but it will be short lived.
The long term forecast is looking active with the gap of sunny skies on Monday giving way to a fresh volley of pacific moisture that will mean snow building through Tuesday and lasting through the end of the week. It’s looking like a pretty glum start to the off season so take the time to get a jump on the inside projects.
