New snow but a little less than expected.
For 4/4/09: This last round of moisture managed to slip around us without the full force of the predicted storm. We saw one solid round of high gusting winds that brought us a shot of red dust but the winds stayed well short of the expected wind event. We can expect more squally snow showers through the day offering a swing at a few more inches of accumulation but the brunt of this system is past us.
Overnight lows held to the low 20’s valley wide with Crested Butte reporting 21 degrees while Gunnison stayed just a degree warmer at 22 degrees. Colder temperatures are expected for today as the cold pool from this northern wave settles in for the day keeping our highs in the high 20’s. Clearing skies overnight will allow for colder lows dropping to the single digits and an incremental increase in tomorrows temperatures rising to the 30’s.
Regional radar is still showing moisture boiling around Grand Junction that will offer the threat of snow through today. Expect gusting winds during squally snow showers and colder temperatures that you will need to bundle up for but the resort is reporting 8” new so get out and have some fun. Clearer skies through tomorrow will make for a nicer day but temperatures will remain on the cooler side.
