Changes on the way.
For 3/20/09: The first day of spring looks like it will be the kick off for the first interesting weather we have seen in a while. Look for high clouds thickening through the day with moisture trying to build enough energy to drop snow. Continued mild temperatures will limit this potential but look for gusting winds to offer some squally snow showers by tonight.
Temperatures are staying warm in this mild southwestern flow with an overnight low of 21 degrees reported valley wide. Today’s highs will likely hold up short of the 40 degree mark but hover right around there. Tonight we will see more of these warm temperatures with an increase in cloud cover insulating against the radiational cooling with lows in the high 20’s expected into tomorrow morning.
There are significant changes afoot in the west and we will see weak systems offering a full variety of weather conditions into Sunday when a more organized and dynamic system moves in that could mean some real snow through Monday. Layer up today as you head out. Conditions will remain pretty mild but there will be changes including the threat of some wet snow and high winds into this evening.
