Nothing but high pressure.

For 3/13/09: REPORT UPDATE: The interaction between this ridge of high pressure and the moisture from the south that was supposed to offer cloud cover and the threat of an isolated snow showers has turned into a one sided affair. A more zonal pattern has taken over and the huge pocket of high pressure that was holding to our west yesterday has set up and will be the dominant weather feature through the weekend and into the beginning of next week. Some very spring like conditions in honor of spring break.

Overnight lows dropped under the clearer skies with Crested Butte reporting 3 degrees and Gunnison dropping even a bit lower to -2 degrees. Daytime highs will rebound quickly under the continued clear conditions with warm highs in the high 30’s flirting with the 40’s at all elevations. Look for another cold night tonight with a little more cloud cover but not enough to insulate against lows dropping to the 0 mark and below again.

The westerly push overnight of this high pressure has taken all of the teeth out of the weather pattern with a few areas of scattered cloud cover all that there will be to challenge these clear blue skies. It looks like we will have incredible conditions on tap through the weekend and into next week. Don’t forget your sunscreen and reapply often.
