Sun and Snow Showers.

For 3/13/09: We have lost most of the limited organization in the western weather pattern and the dirty western flow that has formed will feed us a little of everything through the weekend and into next week. Isolated snow showers from the south will offer scattered snow along the higher peaks with very isolated showers slipping into the lower valleys but accumulations will be very limited.

Temperatures overnight are reflecting the colder air to the south with Crested Butte reporting a low of 12 degrees while Gunnison dipped below 0 to -2 degrees. Temperatures for today will be a degree or two colder than yesterday but look for highs to still hit the mid 30’s. Skies will be partly clear again overnight allowing for more cold overnight lows hovering on the 0 mark valley wide.

The mix of this weak southern flow and the high pressure ridge forming along the divide will mean both sun and isolated snow showers today and likely continuing into the weekend. You will want to layer up today and be prepared for slightly cooler temperatures and changes over the course of the day. This weekend looks like the mix of sun and clouds will continue but temperatures will remain mild.
