Storming yesterday but nothing but beautiful blue skies today.
For 3/11/09: The high winds we saw with the system yesterday blew it clear of the area a little faster than we would have liked but the high pressure that settled in on it’s heals was certainly a nice change. We will see sunny skies through today but this ridge will cycle clear of the area overnight with a weak system lifting in from the southwest offering snow through Thursday afternoon and overnight.
Last night’s lows dropped quickly under the clear skies with Crested Butte reporting -7 degrees while Gunnison stayed just a couple degrees warmer at -3 degrees. We will see highs rebounding quickly under sunny skies today to the 30’s valley wide. Overnight temperatures tonight will stay a little warmer with the expected building cloud cover but continue to hover around 0.
High pressure will dominate today offering beautiful sunny conditions with moderate temperatures. Friday will bring a mix of sun and very isolated snow showers as the moisture transitions to the east and we gap pacific waves with sunny skies expected for Saturday. The western weather pattern gets hard to predict for the weekend with different models offering different solutions so take advantage of sunny days like today and get outside. Don’t forget your sunscreen.
