A little more snow but skies are set to clear.

For 2/27/09: To make sure that we are seeing the full variety of weather features in this current pattern the high winds overnight are drawing a cold front in from the north. It will stay to the other side of the divide and clear of the area but it will stir up the dynamics enough to wring some snow out of this last gasp of the string of moisture clearing the area today. Expect more squally snow showers with little accumulation expected by the time skies start to clear this afternoon.

Temperatures were warm again overnight with Gunnison reporting 17 degrees while Crested Butte was much warmer at 28 degrees. We will see daytime highs holding closer to the low 30’s with a cold night expected as skies clear and the remnants of this cold front settle into the snow covered valleys. Look for valley wide temperatures around 0 or below tomorrow morning but sunny skis will allow for a fast rebound with more warm temperatures on tap through the weekend.

High pressure setting up for the weekend will offer mostly sunny conditions through Monday when another volley of weak pacific systems will start the threat of snow again. Look for some scattered remnants in a dirty western flow to offer some spotty cloud cover but sunny skies will be the dominant weather feature for the weekend. Definitely layer up as you head out today and expect changes as the gusting winds blow the tail end of this moisture clear of the area.
