Super warm and partly sunny.
For 2/25/09: We are seeing a very unorganized pattern in the west and it’s making the forecast a little hard to call. We can expect scattered remnants of this last round to offer some very isolated snow showers over the higher terrain and cloud cover for the valleys but any real moisture is well to our north. Expect a mix of sun and clouds today with another round of super warm temperatures.
Clear skies overnight allowed lows to finally drop closer to normal levels with Gunnison reporting 10 degrees while Crested Butte stayed a little warmer at 14 degrees this morning. Yesterday’s highs popped to the mid 40’s and today could offer more of the same with sunny skies helping a fast rebound towards another high in the 40’s valley wide. A shift in the pattern will introduce a weak cold front from the north for Thursday and the end of the week and this will bring us back to the mid 30’s but these warm temperatures will threaten into the weekend.
A dirty western flow will offer hit or miss shots of snow through the end of the week but little organization or concentrated moisture will mean little to no accumulation. By the weekend we will see a gap of sunny skies that will offer a short taste of spring like conditions so make some plans and take advantage of the incredible conditions.
