Another round of pacific moisture on the way.

For 2/16/09: We are seeing our days of transition with the next round of pacific moisture building under a southwestern flow with moisture feeding in from the west while a subtropical tap also feeds the mix. Our limitation will be the disorganization but this is looking like it will be a snowy week if all the right components continue to fall into place.

The high cloud cover that we saw build overnight provided a little insulation and overnight lows held in the single digits with Gunnison reporting 1 degree while Crested Butte hit 2 degrees this morning. We will see areas of sunshine with some high cloud cover mixed in driving temperatures early to their daytime highs in the high 20’s valley wide. Overnight lows will stay even milder tonight as this next system settles in with snow falling by morning.

Be sure to layer up today as you head out and expect changes with gusting winds and heavier cloud cover building into the afternoon. We will see snow through tonight and continuing into Wednesday as this southern tap feeds us the potential for a good snowmaker. This is our day of transition into the new pattern so expect changes as everything develops and check back for updates.
