A mix of sun and snow early.

For 2/13/09: We are sitting right on the southern most end of this last system with the zonal flow switching around to the south for today. We can expect some scattered snow showers as remnants clear the area but a dry slot has developed between these waves that could offer some sunny skies.

Temperatures are warmer than yesterday thanks to the heavy cloud cover overnight with Gunnison reporting a low of 5 degrees while Crested Butte held to 12 degrees this morning. Daytime highs will hit the high 20’s and flirt with the low 30’s if the sun holds but expect some gusting winds as these systems move to offer colder windchill values so be sure to bundle up.

The next round of moisture in the cue is building into the southwest and will offer snow showers early tomorrow with the brunt settling by the afternoon. This will be another hit or miss system with the potential there for heavy snow but the dynamics a still a little illusive for the best snow development. We will enter another gap on Sunday and Monday with another round setting up for Tuesday. Expect the full mixed bag of conditions as these unorganized waves push through and be sure to layer up and prepare for changes as you head out.
