A couple inches at a time and it's soft.

For 2/12/09: Waves of pacific moisture are continuing to feed into the area and a short gap in systems early will close by noon with a fairly impressive round expected to develop into tonight and drop snow through tomorrow morning. This next shot will likely hold in the 5-7” category but just the right dynamics could feed or steal energy so we’ll have to see how it develops.

Temperatures are starting out the coldest we have seen this week with Gunnison reporting a low of -9 degrees while Crested Butte bottomed out at -5 degrees. We will rebound quickly with gaps of sunny skies but also look for gusting winds as this next system moves in to offer cold wind chill values that feel far colder than the expected highs in the high 20’s. Overnight lows will be much more moderate tonight with the snow but look for the same gusting winds with this fast moving wave.

Volleys of pacific moisture will keep the pattern active through the weekend and into next week but they will also be hard to predict with fast moving waves separated by quick gaps of high pressure. This will mean a full mixed bag of weather conditions so be sure to layer up as you head out and prepare for all conditions.
