A day of transition.
For 2/11/09: We are continuing to see these volleys of pacific moisture marching through the west with yesterday’s system clearing the area and setting us up with a day of transition as the next round postures in the southwest. We can expect the full mixed bag of weather conditions today with snow showers lingering over the higher terrain but partly sunny skies building into the valleys.
Temperatures are starting significantly lower this morning with Gunnison reporting an overnight low of -1 while Crested Butte stayed warmer at 3 degrees this morning. We will rebound to highs in the high 20’s flirting with the low 30’s valley wide as we gap these rounds of pacific moisture. Tonight’s low will depend entirely on the cloud cover returning to the area with heavier cover providing insulation while clear skies allow cold temperatures.
We will see this next round of moisture building into the area through Thursday with Thursday night providing our next chance at the measurable snow. These pacific waves remain fast moving and unorganized but we will see snow through Thursday night and then again on Saturday with the sum total likely in the 12” plus range by next week. Layer up today and expect variable conditions.
