More sun but changes brewing.

For 2/4/09: High pressure is continuing to hold strong and we can expect another day of sunny skies with some of the warmest temperatures we have seen all winter. We are starting to see some changes in the west that will effect our weather by Thursday so definitely get outside today and enjoy these beautiful conditions.

Temperatures are starting cold with Gunnison reporting -4 degrees this morning while Crested Butte dropped to -3 degrees. We will rebound quickly under clear skies with today’s highs threatening the high 30’s and flirting with the 40’s valley wide. We will see more cold clear conditions tonight but better mixing as these pacific systems push in our direction will scour  this inversion clear of the lower valleys by the end of the week.

The high pressure ridge that has been keeping us in these clear skies will cycle through the area tonight with a much more active volley of pacific systems building into the end of the week and the weekend. Our best chance at some real snow will hold off until the weekend but we will start to see snow showers by Friday morning. A big change is on the way so definitely take advantage of today.
