More beautiful conditions on tap for today.

For 2/3/09: High pressure is firmly seated over our area this morning with nothing but clear skies in the forecast through today and extending to tomorrow. As this high pressure ridge cycles through the west we will see clear and sunny conditions dominating into the end of the week.

The inversion even appears to be wearing thin as Gunnison reported an overnight low of -2 degrees while Crested Butte stayed warmer at 3 degrees. Temperatures will rebound quickly even in the capped valleys under these clear skies with warm highs climbing into the 30’s valley wide. By Wednesday some of the warmest temperatures of the season are projected climbing to the high 30’s and threatening the 40’s.

This pocket of high pressure will start to clear the area on Thursday with pacific moisture pushing into the west and it’s looking like we will see snow starting Friday and continuing into the weekend. The dynamics are still forming but it looks like this will start slow but offer some interesting potential into the weekend. Definitely don’t forget your sunscreen this morning and reapply often.
