An incredible week on tap.
For 2/2/09: This high pressure is digging in for the long haul with a ridge building over our area that will keep us in sunny skies and mild temperatures through the better part of the week. We can expect some areas of high cloud cover but mostly sunny conditions will dominate with temperatures rising a few degrees every day.
Overnight lows are still showing this inversion with Gunnison reporting -13 degrees while Crested Butte stayed a couple degrees warmer at -3. Daytime highs will continue to peak faster at the higher elevations with the north end of the valley hedging just past the 30 degree mark while the lower valleys hold just a few degrees colder in the high 20’s. Look for another cold clear night with lows a lot like last night and more warm and sunny daytime highs all week.
We will see some scattered cloud cover polluting what would be otherwise perfect blue skies but mostly sunny conditions will dominate through the extended forecast. We are starting to see a bigger system building in the pacific that should mean some snow by Friday and the weekend but models have been waffling on the timing and trajectory so we will have to see how it develops early in the week. Don’t forget your sunscreen and reapply often.
