Another 8" overnight.
For 1/27/09: The flow of moisture has settled into the south and is favoring the northern San Juans this morning while drier air starts to take over in the north. We will see some remnants offering snow showers through the day with some gusting winds but the better part of this system is past us.
The cold front has moved into our area overnight as evidenced by the overnight lows with Crested Butte reporting 9 degrees this morning while Gunnison dropped to 3 degrees. Daytime highs will just top the 20 degree mark valley wide and winds will be much lighter than yesterday but will still produce some cold windchill values. This will be the trend through Thursday when we will start to see some clearing into Friday. Expect an inversion forming that will create fog in the lower river valleys and around Blue Mesa tonight with cold overnight lows.
Scattered remnants will offer some scattered snow showers through the end of the week with the real clearing starting Friday but it may be short lived as another round of pacific moisture brews in the west. Layer up today and be prepared for some colder temperatures than we have been seeing.
