And the storm rages on.
For 1/26/09: This storm is continuing to brew up surprises with the arctic cold front from the north starting it’s march to the south a little early. This has cold air to the north meeting warm wet air from the south creating a dynamic front that will produce snow and high gusting winds through today and tomorrow.
Temperatures have started to inch colder with Crested Butte reporting an overnight low of 19 degrees while Gunnison dropped a little lower to 17 degrees. Daytime highs will hover right around the freezing mark valley wide but high gusting winds will mean cold windchill values that you will need to be prepared for. By tonight we will see these arctic temperatures with overnight lows expected to drop to about the 0 degree mark or lower while daytime highs tomorrow struggle to reach 20.
This complex pattern will mean very active weather through the next 24 hours with everything from thundersnow to very high gusting winds in the forecast for us and areas around us. Expect strong squally snow showers through today to drop another few inches of snow while high winds blow it around. Be prepared as you head out and, once again, if you are traveling today expect very sloppy conditions and check flyingcracker.com’s road report for the current conditions and restrictions.
