High Pressure City

For 1/18/09: This high pressure is continuing to hold strong as the ridge moves through to the east and we will have another beautiful day on tap. Aside from a few scattered pockets of high altitude cloud cover holding mostly along the divide and higher peaks there will be nothing but clear blue skies dominating.

We have finally seen that inversion settle into the south end of the valley with Crested Butte reporting an overnight low of -4 degrees while Gunnison dropped to -17 degrees this morning.  Daytime highs will rebound quickly under these clear skies with another high in the high 20’s flirting with the 30’s but the lower valleys may stay a few degrees cooler and take a little longer to warm up.

There is very little change in the forecast until the middle of next week so it looks like clear and sunny will be the name of the game through the beginning of this week as well. Definitely don’t forget your sunscreen as you head out and reapply often.
