More sunny skies.
For 1/17/09: Today’s big weather tip is to wear sunscreen. We are seeing some light high altitude cloud cover early polluting the blue bird conditions but this will be the limit of the variables to today’s weather. The high pressure ridge from the west will cycle over our area through the weekend with mostly sunny conditions dominating all the way into next week.
We have seen another cold overnight low with Crested Butte reporting -6 degrees while Gunnison stayed right in check at -7 degrees. These are cold temperatures but they sap evidence from the big inversion that is supposed to be forming over the lower valleys while the two different altitudes stay roughly the same. Look for daytime highs today to top out at the high 20’s and low 30’s again valley wide rebounding quickly from the cod low this morning under the clear skies.
We have beautiful high pressure conditions on tap through the weekend and tomorrow will look a lot like today so make your plans and get outside. Carry layers just in case of some thicker high cloud cover but definitely reapply the sunscreen often.
