The Colorado Blue Bird.
For 1/16/09: This high pressure has settled into the area and we can expect mostly sunny conditions dominating again today. Expect the same sporadic pockets of cloud cover and you should layer up to account for some chillier conditions but today should look a lot like yesterday.
Temperatures will stay mild under this current pattern but we are starting to see more evidence of that inversion building steam with Crested Butte reporting an overnight low of -2 degrees while Gunnison dropped to -6 degrees. We will rebound to the high 20’s and low 30’s valley wide but it may take the lower valleys longer to shake the colder air than the ridges and higher elevations. This trend of cold clear nights and mild days will last into next week while this ridge holds over our area.
Aside from a few scattered areas of cloud cover that will blow through quickly along the divide, we will see beautiful conditions dominating into next week. Layer up to be prepared for some of these brief shady periods but definitely get outside and enjoy this January thaw.
