Incredible sunny conditions.

For 1/15/09: Remnants from this northern flow are continuing to cycle through to our north on the other side of the divide and will offer some areas of cloud cover but skies will be mostly sunny. Any cloud cover we see will hold to the highest peaks and we should see above normal temperatures and sunny skies all the way into the weekend.

Temperatures for today will climb again early under the clear skies with a high in the low 30’s expected valley wide. We have seen more evidence overnight of the creeping inversion with Crested Butte reporting a low of 7 degrees while Gunnison dropped to 0 this morning. This will mean a slower rebound but the south end of the valley should enjoy the same mild highs for today. This inversion will become more evident through the end of the week and the weekend with colder overnight low and daytime highs a few degrees colder then the higher elevations. That said, we are still looking at he 20’s and 30’s valley wide into next week.

A system currently building in the pacific will offer our next chance at some snow with the pattern expected to swing around to a more productive southwestern trajectory for next week. We’ll have to see how it develops but defiantly get outside and enjoy these incredible conditions and don’t forget your sunscreen.
