Still under the northwestern flow.
For 1/14/09: We are continuing to see this northwestern flow holding just to the other side of the divide introducing weak impulses in the form of areas of high cloud cover. It’s possible that we may see some very isolated snow showers on the divide but skies will remain mostly sunny otherwise.
Temperatures will look a lot like yesterday except for the colder start with Crested Butte reporting an overnight low of 1 degree while Gunnison dropped to 0 this morning. We will rebound quickly under mostly sunny skies with our highs expected to hit the high 20’s and flirt with 30 at the south end of the valley. The shift in the pattern through the end of the week will be favorable for the return of the inversion to the lower valleys and this will mean some colder overnight lows into the weekend.
We will finally see the real change in the western weather pattern we have been waiting for with this northern flow cycling off to the east through tomorrow. This will open the door for some consistently sunny skies into the weekend. For today, be sure to continue to layer up with that mix of sun and clouds still likely.
