A mix of sun and clouds today.

For 1/11/09: Remnants from this last round of northern moisture are still lingering and regional radar is showing a pocket sifting into our area from the north that will introduce some cloud cover and even some snow showers over the divide. Look for the same gusting winds with a mix of sun and clouds so be sure to layer up as you head outside and be prepared for conditions to change throughout the day.

Overnight temperatures showed signs of that inversion reforming but insulating cloud cover at the north end of the valley make the disparity deceiving. Crested Butte reported an overnight low of 0 degrees at midnight while Gunnison has dropped to -7 degrees this morning. We will rebound into the 20’s valley wide but expect areas of cloud cover to mix with the gusting winds and make it feel colder at times.

This dirty flow out of the north will offer the mix of conditions all the way into next week but with little organization we won’t see more then sun and clouds. Our next chance at some significant snow will hold off until later next week and will require a good shift in the pattern. Don’t forget sunscreen and layers as you head out today.
