A blue bird weekend on tap.

For 1/10/09: This latest round of moisture from the north blew through a little quicker then expected with the resort reporting 3” of new snow but we are waking up this morning to clear blue skies that will dominate through the weekend. We are in a northwest flow but just on the southern end of any of the weak pacific systems that will keep areas to the north cloudy and grey.

Our big variable through the beginning of the week will be the temperatures with clear skies offering some cold overnight lows while that inversion tries to set up over the lower river valleys. This morning is offering cold lows but without the inversion with Crested Butte reporting -13 degrees while Gunnison stayed warmer at -6 degrees. We will bounce back quickly with the clear and sunny conditions with highs in the 20’s expected valley wide. You will want to expect some gusting winds with colder windchill values as the pattern continues to shift from the north and be prepared with an extra layer as you head out.

We will see a lull in the western weather pattern through the beginning of the week with mostly sunny skies dominating. Models differ on the upcoming week and the weather so be sure to get outside and enjoy a beautiful weekend.
